It's unfortunate for Africa, and the world at large, that World War 1 happened. Since Africa may have ended up a completely different place with continued emphasis on hegemonic colonial-development across the continent via the push for increased western colonialism. This is what happens when the western colonial Empires of yesteryear DON'T squat on your continent for 300 years. South Africa even has the infrastructure of a European nation within the past 50 years unfairly offering advantage. Rhodesia went from being a leading light of the continent to being another ape-infested warzone in under a decade.
