correction, its actually a drawing MIND BLOWN http://diegokoi.deviantart.com/art/Sensazioni-331828679
I don't get what's the point of this stuff(I like realism when I can actually see the lines and the technique) but good for the author, I guess
It only serves a single purpose "it's artwork" nothing more, nothing less. Damn fine for something drawn with a pencil.
I really admire and envy artists who can draw completely photorealistically, as it shows a great deal of precision and skill that are way beyond what most people can do. However, what I don't find all that thrilling are those that stick to exclusively copying photos - especially those of celebrities. I mean...if I want to look at that photo, I can just google that photo and save everyone the time. After the minute or two spent in amazment at their skill level, it's really boring as shit after a while. I actually like this piece from his gallery the best. Excellent mimic of the original, while executing the improvisational elements in a very natural and believable way. I'm in awe of the way he so smoothely rendered the typography.
looks like photorealism. in which people basically copy photographs with paint or whatever. It's not bullshit, it's 100% trufax.
Probably hundreds of hours. I admire the technical skills and patience of people who can do it, but I don't see anything more. They are just copied photographs. I like the example FlamingTofuSquare posted, that one has an actual idea and originality in it. Trying to criticise artists who draw/paint like that always ends up in disaster because they're so sure in being technically perfect, they see any kind of constructive criticism as hate and flaming.
dat ear sliding off the head also that is technically "impressive" but too way boring to my tastes. It's not really productive and creative too.
