THIS got a DD

Oh...oh my god. did his really get a DD? Was the person who awarded this BLIND as well as mentally impaired? I mean...his face is wonky as fuck. If I met this down a dark alley, I'd shit myself.

Honestly the picture isn't bad. However when you compare it to the other photographs she has of snow leopards in even more rare and quirky poses...this just pales in comparison.

which begs the questions why do they even have dd in the first place? I noice the blurring lines too. seems like almost everything in dd is insta front page.

DDs used to be good and limited to only 5 a day, meant to promote real talent and keep the website standards up. I don't remember when they increased the number, but basically yeah, it turned into a second front page/promotional tool for moderator's friends.

The snow leopard photo would've been better if they cropped its face, the rest is boring and redundant. It probably got a DD only because omg it's a wild cat and everyone loves those. :/

If they cropped the snow leopard piece, then it would be just plain bland. Like "oh look a picture of a cat laying there" As I said before the artist has way better pieces in her gallery that could've been suggested.

I don't think the problem lies with how many Daily Deviations there are per day. The problem is more or less- the people they put in charge of each category. Let's face it, a gallery mod with poor tastes will feature artwork as DD with poor to sub-par quality.
For instance the "furry" category. I have seen some pretty damn good anthro deviations on Deviantart. However the only ones that make DD's are the common foddder ones that you can spot on FurAffinity.net. The only exception to that was the classical oil painting( or atleast it appeared to be one) of a breed of dog wearing a dress.
I think someone on here or on DA also mentioned that another issue is that the constantly rotate between mods who have the privilege to suggest DD's in the first place. Leading to an issue where one mod is just beginning to get the hang of suggesting good DD's and then they get switched for someone else who has no clue what they are fucking doing.

As the saying goes: Good coloring cannot hide terrible anatomy. Either her hipbone is dislocated, or she has a terrible hip defect.
She also suffers from a swivel waist.
I could go on, and on about the poor anatomy here.

I'd be honest, I like the coloring but it gets fucked up once I start looking at the lower half or start staring long pretty much anywhere

The females in this piece looks like someone karate chopped their sides to a permanent angle. While the tannish guy on the far left appears to have an unnatural bulge coming out of his back.
Overall it's...okay seeing how it's concept art.
In fact that's all DD's are anymore. They are okay, but not DD worthy.
