I don't know which is worse, the old ways of the Catholic Church or the increasing pathetic packpedalling and atheist pandering that they've been doing in recent times.

This is the first place on the internet I've heard people call out the current papacy for it's bullshit. Instead of having a spine it tries too hard to please the masses and compromises its integrity. I don't give two shits about gay rights or whether atheists go to heaven or not, the Catholic Church is supposed to follow its own teachings dammit. And every single time I have pointed this out on more normal parts of the internet I get tons of anger and hatred in response. Fuck social justice and fuck tolerance.

Naturally the Catholic church is just trying to appeal to neckbearded atheists due to lower church turnout.

    ^This.

I don't really see this as an issue dealing with certain geopolitical areas rather than theological doctrine.

Seems to me like the old "tide goes in, tide goes out" that religious people always use.

Vatican is gonna be supported and demonized whatever it does

On my part, I'm glad to see some change, even if it means the farce continues for some decades more

There has to be some religious nutter screaming at the fact that the Pope is fine with evolution, probably in the same pitch as a weaboo screaming while watching Dragonball Evolution.

Coming from a Catholic family I don't see much of a problem with Francis kissing science's ass considering the Vatican itself has an academy dedicated to that in a semi-secular manner, not to mention that the Big Bang theory (formerly the Primeval Atom) was introduced to the world by a Belgian cleric named Georges Lemaître. It was only called the "Big Bang" because atheist British astrophysicist Fred Hoyle mocked it, saying that it was based on Lemaitre's dogma and that the universe was static in nature, as it was theorized back then.

Religious nutters should realize that the scientific field itself was majorly landscaped by people who had spiritual and/or theistic beliefs.

Exactly. But, Bible-thumpers and Fedoratheists are two sides of the same coin. They point out events or views that are much more complicated or flat out not true so they can keep their ignorant view that Religion has to always go against science.
