This is untrue, Americans can say whatever the fuck they want. It's that most Americans are secular, and Christmas is a religious holiday. Now, in schools, I do think children should be able to celebrate religious holidays, but they shouldn't be forced to learn about the biblical significance of Christmas, Easter, Hallow's Eve, etc.
Wait we can't celebrate Christmas openly? Bullshit, in my workplace and school, both are done. I think that the way my school handled it when I was younger (admitedly not under obama) was we got a multicultural hodgepodge. We didn't JUST do Christmas, we did Hanukah and Kwanza too. Honestly unless you work at like wal mart, or somewhere where you are direct customer service you can say Merry Christmas. Also you're allowed to pray in schols. I think that the objection is against the teachers saying "ok everyone lets pray" or "lets do easter stuff". Its just pandering guys, ignore it, he's trying to clinch the repub nom so he is doing this. He in actuality knows better.
Wasn't "Happy Holidays" first promoted by department stores because they were sick of non-Christians not buying stuff for Christmas? Anyways, Rick Perry apparently lost the memo about a mere 9% of Iowa Republicans even giving a shit about the culture wars. He's nothing but a memory.
