Still figuring out how to paint in photoshop.
I know that the anatomy is wrecked at many places.
I'm also still having trouble at rendering shadows areas on the character, it often looks muddy.

It's a very dull painting, far too symmetrical. She's just blandly standing there with those creatures swinging from her arms. You could've livened it up by having her actually react to the creatures, so far the only one who seems to acknowledge the others' existences is the owl on the ground.

Oy I agree but I wanted something simple since I was trying direct coloring of this type for the first time. She's just trying to look cool with her owls man.

I think one of the biggest things we can learn from this thread is that learning to draw/paint and learning to see are two entirely different things.

Look man, I don't mean to sound rude, but why are you always making excuses for your mistakes? That attitude isn't going to get you anywhere.

If she's trying to "look cool" with her owls than you failed. As Slime said it looks like she is just existing. She looks dead pan. Like a painted CGI "T model" There is no expression. She isn't acknowledging anything. Especially not the owls. That doesn't come off as "looking cool." That comes off as really soulless.


Secondly, if this is your first time doing direct coloring, than needless to say it failed. It's far to bright. Too much white in the picture. I suggest start with a value base first and than apply the colors underneath as a base and work your way up to the final picture. That's how I do mines now. I used to do that with my colorings last year. I posted a 30 day Pokemon challenge up on here and a lot of them value wise were hit and misses. More misses than anything.

And last but not least the background is extremely dry. Any color at all would of worked. But not that grey. It takes an already flat and boring piece and makes it worse.

But seriously man. Stop with the excuses. They are fucking weak. Nothing of what you said even remotely justifies the deadpan look of this picture.

And the same with the last picture you posted here. There is always an excuse for a really big fuck up. From "I was bored to the latest thing you said.

Keep this up man. But I'm giving you a warning right now- there are a lot of users on this thread who are a lot less forgiving with this stuff, and would be more than happy to rip you to pieces. I'm kind of sugar coating it because I can't really be all that mean, but the same can't be said for them. Just admit to your mistakes and get better at it. Don't keep making up stuff to justify them.

I'd offer some helpful advice, but, you know, doing studies is boring and dumb.

I think your shadowings gotten a little bit better since last i saw.

But I would advice you do more figure drawing, she looks pretty stale, and soulless, working on how to get movement into your line will help you a lot. Don't start with painting, start with drawing

Her feet are very very very small, I don't think you would be able to stand on them, adn her pose is unbalanced, she will fall over.

think about where weight falls, think about when you stand up, where do you lean, if you are having trouble wihta pose, do teh pose yourself, feel where the weight is.

check some ctrl+ paint videos out, they have some neat stuff on this issue and im not the greatest teacher.

Don't stop drawing, keep em coming, but like previously stated, not excuses, what happened happened becasue you did it. Just acknowledge that and move past it and try to learn from it

I'm not gonna put anymore time into this one so i'll put it here. I'm not really satisfied wiht it, I was in a funk when i started but i think it was a good stepping stone to get out.
