Palette challenge-type-deal. Gave myself a little over an hour to complete.
I am very much out of practice as far as speed-painting is concerned.

I think you missed the point of palette challenges. You are supposed to experiment with the (often contrastive) colours in shading and such. On this pic you just simply used one colour for bg, other for the character. The important things are just hinted at - the lightning/shading on her staff, shoulders and other upper parts.
Ugh I hope you get my point? This doesn't look as much of a palette challenge rather than like a blue character with darker blue shading on a separate orangish background. Hardly a challenge at all.

You mean that it should go akin to what can be seen below?

Yeah, like with both the different colours applied to the same area/character. Not just using one colour solely for bg and other solely for the background but mixing it up moree

Even the character has the blue shading on him going on <- which is pretty much my point, the maleficent pic has just hints of this

I should've clarified that this was a challenge being tossed around on tumblr. Somebody else picks a palette and a character, and then you have to fulfill their demand.
I knew there wasn't much contrast going on, so it was frustrating to work with and force it to be defined. But with a request for #16 Maleficent, I did what I could. : p

I do have a small critique for you Watershipsdown:

On the last page... when the girl is getting up and the old man at the table...I can see that you didn't sketch their legs underneath her dress and his legs for the room of the room.

He looks like an amputee...his legs are too long and big to fit under that table.

It's extra work, but never be afraid to sketch out parts that will not be seen in the final product, it will make your work stronger in the end.

I hope this ends in porn- I wanna see that bitch's hairy cunt!

-Her nose changes from a fucking potato to "normal" a few times.
-The guy looks as pleased to see her as if he's getting anally ræpd (which includes the forced and against his will part)
-Yeah and overall it has a feel of heaviness and lack of ease. Might be more of a taste thing though.
-Also I already hate the whole work in advance, it all looks like a badly thought-out "mysterious story" to me. Liek omg its so weird i dunno at all wuts gonna happen i should totes keep reading this badly drawn piece of shit.

shouldn't this thread have some purpose? like setting a theme/prompt for the drawings
