I tried to make his skin look wrinkly, but I see that I failed in that department. I tried to go for an intense comic book shading with the heavy blacks and lines. Looking at it now, Jesus.

I tried so much and I didn't succeed.

Try emphasizing the lines by the nose, mouth, eyes, and on the forehead first. Those are usually the most distinctive signs of aging, and all other wrinkling builds around them.

Use real references, learn to understand what the faces of old men actually look like:



I also strongly recommend you don't try to shade like in certain comic books (as you just said you tried to), at the very least not until you actually understand how light and shadow work, what colors to use, and whatever else I may or may not be forgetting.

You visibly need to learn the fundamentals of art.

Where in the internet is a good spot to learn the fundamentals? Also, any chance someone can maybe red line the light source and shadows for me?

Anyways, I whipped up something. I admit, this is my first time using Sketchbook Pro so bare with me.

Admittedly, I fucked up with the yellow smudge.

As for the appearance, she's not really meant to be beautiful, but instead a brutal, unapologetic, violent, cynical anti-hero. This is what she looks in here base human form.
