I read that people who oppose this trend or have a negative opinion on the subject are often labelled as arrogant or too proud to acknowledge any physical imperfections about them.

Personally, I'm fascinated by this. The main difference I see with this phenomenon and those in other cultures is that, in the latter, people use plastic surgery as means of enhancing particular features with the hopes it will boost their self-esteem, all while still retaining their facial signature. You know, they still want to recognize who they see reflected on the mirror everyday. Plastic surgery in SK is so drastic that's akin to wearing a mask for life. Plus, it's based on a completely fabricated, very specific fictional look, loosely inspired by western beauty standards that's making everyone converge into the same face.
