I was playing an old game which had midi versions of a few songs and it reminded me of when I listened to Hammerfall at the age of 13 or so. I looked up one of their songs then found a live concert recording of it and the singer sucked ass. He wasn't even singing half the time just saying key words. And many parts were at a lower register and much shorter than in the studio release. I stood there and watched for a few seconds how they and their crowd thought they were the shit and felt pity for them, then shut off the video. Another example is an "artist" I've been following for a long time since at first they were cool. Unfortunately I had to bear witness to their descent into "sell out fagdom". It's avenged sevenfold who was barely metal in the beginning and now anything but metal. Gosh. I looked at a recent concert recording on youtube and couldn't listen to any of their songs. There are so many problems with them. they look like faggots they sing the same goddamn songs all the time they sing songs close to nursery rhymes (Acid Rain - seriously) they are selling their old crap recordings as treasure for their stupid fans they have released a gay ass cartoon recently the singer stopped doing growls and metal screams a while ago since he fucked up his voice from doing it wrong so bad that he had to have a surgery Then there's what I observed from this recent concert of theirs: their instruments were out of tune the singer either: shouts like a fucking idiot at high parts tries to overdo certain parts and ends up out of tune just simply fails at singing barely high notes And these things apply to most power metal and faggot metal bands sadly. I don't want to hear artificially modified voices. Where has the quality gone?

They both got too big for their own good. Stopped listening to power metal when I was 20 and never looked back.
Yeah. Power metal is gay mainly because it's the same high pitched crap all the time. Even during the short period I was listening to Hammerfall I got bored quickly and felt there's something iffy about the whole thing.
I think it is your poor choice in metal musicians, they never age with time. "You can't make chicken soup from chicken shit"
I was watching AS at the beginning a bit and only thing i remember about them being good was that they weren't bad musicians, at least one of the guitarists and mainly the ex-drummer - he was really, really good, and i think that's the main problem. And Hammerfall, gee, haven't heard them in a while. I was never fan of power metal, but i liked them because they wore a lot of chainmail and had skeletons in their music videos.. I listen to a whole orchestra of growls and screeches, but who i truly admire are those psychotic singers - they usually have a repertoire which crosses multiple boundaries, and you may never know what to expect... few examples: Kataklysm with Sylvain Houde - this dude was absolutely incredible. I was always wondering why did he left or was fired, and then i've heard that they have parted ways because he was screaming like this ALL THE TIME. Genius! Psychofagist - throw in bits of noise and jazz for the win lol, no need to comment on this, i guess. However, about the sucking - the worst gigs i can remember were probably my dying bride and manowar. not that i'd expect anything from these shows, but i was't even laughing, and that is really saying something.
