if you sincerely think that's what everyone has a problem with, i almost feel bad for you.

Well to be fair I was getting bored of it anyway, I was basically looking for an excuse to stop watching. Honestly if the show was still funny to me I wouldn't have given a shit. MLP was never something that you watch for, uh, deep, complex, interesting storytelling. The only leg that it has to stand on is its amusement factor, which only dwindled more and more over time.

To be completely honest, I don't really even care about that reason I gave, I was really butthurt that day and vented it on the show. I would've stopped watching the show regardless and just wanted a reason to stop giving a shit. ODDLY ENOUGH, despite watching it for teh lulz, I watched every single episode (save for a few in season 4 that got bad reviews) and only laughed THREE fucking times. It was one of those shows that you watch because it keeps you just entertained enough to check out the next episode.

Not because it's actually GOOD.


Anyway, I knew you guys would dig shit on me after you innevitably saw my shitty gallery, but I wanted to post the guys freakout anyway for the sake of lulz everywhere.

You would have to be pretty damn retarded to see an artist's current work and think that they always drew like that. As would anybody who first tried drawing, sucked, and then quit forever because they couldn't do the art thing right away. Anybody who quits like that was never very interested in art in the first place. It's a fundamental fact of life that you have to work for whatever you want that everybody above 9 is aware of.

As for that meme, the artist is not obligated to say that she didn't start drawing at 13, and that she'd already been pursuing the talent for a while(as it happens, she never implied she started drawing at 13 neither). Nor does the meme require her to post her earliest works. It retroactively works from the most recent year.

I've known artists who will delete older works as a matter of maintenance, but I can also understand those who are embarrassed by their older works and try to pretend they never happened. And it's not specifically because they want to give off the impression they were always great, but because they are genuinely ashamed of their past creations. Like when you did something really dumb in the past, and then someone tries to bring it up, you just sort of want to change the topic so you don't have to talk about it and remember your mistakes.

Considering you are a brony and a tracer who can't own up to when they're butthurt or to their faggotry, I doubt that you would ever be influential enough to affect the course of a blooming artist, whether for good or ill.

I'm not saying that's her intention, I understand how fucking embaressing one's older work can be. Especially when you've left comments making it clear how proud you were of it at the time. It makes you look like and feel like an idiot. And as silly as it sounds, there are legitimately people who think good artists start off good. Talent is something a lot of people seem to believe in, that you're either born with a natural artistic talent or you just can't draw ever. If someone has convinced themselves that this is the reality, they're unlikely to keep trying if they find they suck.

They shouldn't, it's fucking stupid that they do, but it still happens. And I'll admit, I have justified digital tracing, but that's it, and even then, I'm vehemently against complete tracing. It should be used as a time saving tool for people who already know what the fuck they're doing. A lot of hyper realists trace the outlines of a photo than render the rest of it free hand, just to save time. And these are professional, very skilled artists.

The only reason I started tracing at all is because I drawing digitally is much more difficult than traditional, I could spend days just getting the linework. Besides, it's only half the piece. Even if someone can trace, doesn't mean they can render. No scrub who thinks they can trace their way to good art will ever produce anything even half-decent except for manga-type low-detail cartoon shit. As soon as they move on to something that actually requires real rendering, they're fucked.

That's why I discourage complete tracing, and only recommend it, IN DIGITAL, because of the increased difficulty , unless you truly, honestly, feel like you need it, or you know you can do it but to save time. It wasn't even just that, because of how hard it was to free hand completely in digital, I had to try using a ruler to measure out the size and placement of the subject on the canvas, and due to my get up on my desk, it caused me extreme back pain in the long run. I knew that had to stop.

And this is coming from someone who was completely and utterly opposed to tracing prior to moving to digital art. I'm not proud of it, but at least I'm honest about it. And I avoid it as much as I can.
