Let's start with the left guy. Is that a brown square on his undershirt? And what is up with those lapels? I've never seen any that extend all the way down. Then again, I wear men's clothing. That coat has buttons on the left side. For the most part, only women's clothing has that. His face and head(minus eye lines) is actually fucking decent. But then...his pose. He's supposed to be pointing, and resting his arm on the bar. But the lines around the resting arm are...well...too thick to imply any sort of foreshortening and make him look like he has a tyrannosaurus rex arm, especially with his tiny as fuck hand. As for the pointing hand...okay. The lines imply he's...pulling his elbow in, bending his arm to a nearly 5 degree angle, and then displaying his entire pointing hand towards the fourth wall, not directly pointing where he should be implying with his eye line. Fuck, he looks like he's pointing to the guy on the right. And his wrist is at an impossible 80 degree angle as well. F...fantastic.

Then there's the guy on the right. He looks as bemused as the guy on the left, but he's already accustomed to the situation. Plus, brown scarf+light blue coat+faded light purple pants? Who the fuck dresses themselves like that? Once again, the face is disturbingly the most decent part, though the ear is a bit too far to the left on his head based on his head turn and the eyes are asymmetrical as fuck. His beer arm looks detached from the elbow on because apparently he's crossing his arms while he drinks? That's not uncomfortable as fuck or anything, no. And I've never seen any bent elbow make those clothing wrinkles in any situation, like, wow. So what is he doing with his fucking beer arm? Presenting that "Yes, I am indeed drinking, pip pip" to the audience? And what happened to his fucking index and middle fingers there? Are they nubs? And that mug, my god. That's pathetic. Zero points. He's hiking his leg up, probably resting it on the stool based on the knee, I've seen stools with higher crossbars for that sort of thing, sure. But why is he not hunched? His back is perfectly straight, hell, he's even puffing his chest a bit, and taking the leg thing and arm crossing into account...just...what the fuck? For both men, try to mimic these poses. Not too hard, because it's bound to be painful.

And finally, the composition. I've not been to many bars, but those I've ever seen have always had more than one tap. A single tap. Where is this bar, the taint of the Arctic? That would explain their fashion sense... The skewed bar and header make it seem almost as though it's supposed to be coming towards us from the right...but the people's sizes don't indicate that. Although the right guy should be farther away we see more of him, even weirder considering the skewed nature of it. Shouldn't the bar skew the other way?Why are they completely turned away from the bar? Were they aimed at a TV originally? Nobody turns full on the spot, especially sitting, to notice something, unless it's shocking which, neither of them are shocked. If they were looking at a TV...what kind of bar sets itself up to have the customers turned AWAY from the product as they watch TV? Bars are designed so the customer can drink and look directly at it, usually on the wall or ceiling corners thereof right by. How short must the bartender be to not hit his head on the lowered ceiling header thing there? He should be face to face with customers when they sit down at the bar, right? Because behind the bar is raised slightly so he can match. But he'd scrape his head on that thing if he were actually standing at their eye level.

This sounds nitpicky as hell, but that's literally just me going into detail about WHY the panel doesn't work. You know from a glance whether it works or not. This is just taking the time to dissect WHY. Toss the criticism aside but...I can't accept the setup of any of this. The fewer questions the reader is asking themselves as they look at the first panel the better. The only questions we should be thinking are along the lines of "oh man where is this going", not "good god why does this unnerve me so much". Saying "It's a cartoon, it doesn't matter" is just trying to handwave what is a serious flaw in his composition and design.

Dobson can't draw this shit because he's never done any of this. He's never sat and drank at a bar or witnessed others do it. Artists need to be able to draw from life, yeah? But...Dobson doesn't have one, so...

Pretty sad how much Dobson's lack of social interaction is showing these days.

He can't write characters that are suppose to represent a modern generation, his visual library and inspiration for anything doesn't surpass 1889, and now because of his lack of social interaction he has health problems.

Go outside Dobson, go to a gym, take a walk, take in some culture. Shit, anyone would be unhealthy if all they did was play vidya games and whined on the internet.

The scarves and shapeless clothing made me think 1910s London for some reason. Or at least a community college theatre department's rendition of it.

Yeah really, the dull colors in the first panel and the weird outfits made me think this could not be a modern setting.

Based on the language used, it has to be set modern-day. My best guess is that the characters are both contortionists, one around 20 years older than the other, taking a break from some low-effort Oscar Wilde cosplay in a prop bar that only serves ice cream floats.

The myriad problems in the first panel completely negate the rest of the strip. The first panel is supposed to just be "two young dudes sitting in a modern bar" but it is literally weirder and requires more suspension of disbelief than the idea that a fucking Cenobite is sitting in a bar writing notes to a guy he's angry with. This is a spectacular failure of comic art and writing.

Playing music isn't even an obligatory thing when it comes to livestream. First and foremost it is meant to allow your fans to watch you as you work in real time. I've been to plenty of Livestreams usually with PK and sometimes they add music, other times it's streaming videos of episodes, and other times they just chat with fans while they work. There is no set way on how to do things on a livestream.

If Dobson doesn't want to go outside, the least he could do is watch a reality television show that takes place in modern days. Hell even those crappy Disney channel shows could give him a perspective on what people actually wear in this day and age.
Also one thing I noticed, not once has he ever mentioned in a journal about how he goes to a friends house or meet up with someone he hasn't seen in a long time. Aside from Brent, I don't even know if he HAS any online friends( not his fans.)
I'm a introvert, but even I chat up with some of my friends from real life once in a while. It seems that Dobson is literally a lone wolf.

to be perfectly fair, i've been to one bar and it's a fucking hole in the wall. but there, the tv was a piece of shit discoloured sd tv on the opposite side of the room as the bar and there was only one tap, and it doesn't work, and this is right on the outskirts of on of the biggest cities in my state [which is not alaska or the midwest, but rather southeast]. it's a piece of shit, but i'm underage and don't care to go to bars. i only went because a friend had to babysit his fucking dad.

i don't have a microphone built into my laptop or otherwise, so the least i could do is show off my music collection. but i was just saying, if my computer is a piece of shit from the factory to start with and can do that... what? three years later? then dobson went and infected his piece of shit mac without realising it or something, because i think even an old-ass mac could run a livestream without an issue other than a wee bit o' lag. mine can even run photoshop cs5, so long as i'm not doing anything else... and even if i was playing music all it would do is a bit of lag, but being that i hate lag on people's vids/streams i'd be a hypocrite to do that.
