That lock is pretty stupid even for generic anime/80s-90s storytelling. And yea, the Kiss was very unnecessary.

I'm still amazed he never bothered to improve the Alex comics when he released them on the Internet because probably no one bought his shitty comics. He could have at least remade the piss awful cat chapters with the art and writing.

You know, I don't even mind the words like "kiss" or "stare" being used as visual effects. It's just they're so badly done, and carelessly laid out. But like Mortal Sword said, this is from a guy who thought typography was a useless class.

His words don't add anything anything to a scene. They're just... there, taking up space. Hardly any variation and sloppily done.




Hell, even when they did translate the onomatopoeia in manga they did a better job than Dobbo does in his watered down hack comic.

keep in mind that manga came out in like, the 1990s, when translation of manga was particularly bad.

I'm going to assume it was a Viz media production since they sort of developed their own distinctive sound effects look and translation at that time, so much so I thought this was a fucking Inuyasha page at first glance. Of course the lettering is only so huge and bulky to cover up where they had to edit out the Japanese text. Dobson obviously mistook this for some kind of super special mango style.

Because Dobson has no sense of plot or story arch for a fucking comic book artists, this is how I would've done this entire background story.

It would've been interesting ( or shitty this is Dobson here) if one of his comics depicted Alex and friends raiding an antique shop, or any other place that would hold that valuable looking necklace. They would track down the location of the item through a series of clues and puzzles throughout the town. Along with things Orphan boy would say about the head of the orphanage that would give clue to who or where she/he would sell such an item. (To make this simple I would imagine the necklace in question is very very valuable and expensive.) Once they find said location, they would go in sneaky style and rob the necklace from it's owner. This could be part one

Part two could be utilized in going into detail about the significance of the object. Since according to Dobson, everyone in that orphanage was killed in some way, perhaps orphan boy himself, would tell his crew that he's going to take one last look at the orphanage. Just to see what shape it's in right now. Since I have no fucking clue what the hell had happened to it, I'm just going to assume it got raided by ACTUAL pirates or mercenaries, everyone in there was killed, and the orphanage completely destroyed. (I'd like to think that the headmaster of the orphanage made some shady deals with the wrong kind of people out of greed, and one of those bets blew up in his/her face big time.) As orphan boy traverses through the remains of the place he would come upon objects or rooms that would send him into flashbacks about his past either with his "sister", some other people he at least called friends, and the headmaster as a child. All this escalating to when he reached his old room where he remembers being captured by Alex herself. Probably as he was being dragged off he could see/hear the mercenaries or pirates storming into the orphanage, and killing everyone inside. Perhaps he would even hear his own "sister" calling for him, and there is nothing he can do about it.

That means there would be no fucking point in that garbage comic he wrote. In fact this could actually introduce an interesting dynamic where orphan boy actually loathes Alex in a very deep part of him, but always took the abuse and put a smile on his face because he could never really predict what Alex would do to him if he really went on her bad side. Perhaps this is where Alex and Atea could be secretly watching Sam, and Alex now expressing extreme guilt over realizing the full effects of what she had done by kidnapping him in the first place. He wasn't really grateful for being kidnapped before the massacre, he would be upset that he wasn't able to be with the one person who was always there for him in the very last moments of her life. He would feel that he had abandoned her, while she sacrificed a lot of things for his own well being.

tl;dr my plot is better than his shit.

That's way too complicated for Dobson's Pirate Garfield, since it's not something from an 80s-90s anime he can use as a "reference."

woah, hold up there sparky, you're pretending to be surprised that dobson has no sense of how human beings react, their emotions and psyche.

This plot is coming from an 18 year old. If a so called professional comic artist couldn't even think up your average complex plot in the 10 seconds it took me to come up with it, then someone needs to get seriously schooled in story telling.
I mean seriously, even Brentalfloss could out do Dobson in that field.

... you know, it would have been kinda sorta an attempt at humor if they had Phantom Ganon working at the Gap instead of just sitting in front of it. Like an employee wearing lame Gapwear.

To nitpick...there's something wrong with the lines if you look at Link in the first panel.; one portion is bigger than the other. The shield strap doesn't make sense because if it was that loose, Link wouldn't make a slash worth a shit.

I'm not gonna bother touching the joke because it's just awful. It completely misses the mark because Brent, Dan, and Dobson can't write anything funny even if it's shitty lyrics they sing over video game songs.

Those are some of the ugliest Links I've seen from anyone.

This could have been at least a little chucklesome, but they spent so long setting up the joke and gave it little payoff. Also how many of their 13 year old readers are going to get a joke about an NES game?

The drawings themselves are just lazy. This is literally the only thing Dobson is doing right now, why did he half-ass it so much? Maybe he was too busy begging for money and blowing dudes so he could afford a Wii U.

Also, I think the most telling thing is that Castlevania is set in pseudo-Europe and uhhhh we don't have Thanksgiving? So not only is this badly drawn (as usual) it makes no sense.
