Yes I know these examples aren't manga and are in color so they're more detailed and interesting, but still. The point is the creativity. I didn't even have to compare to other fantasy/sci-fi locations to point out how boring this port JJ's created is. It's just so BLAND. He didn't even fucking try.

I'm not. What I'm trying to get over is that at least George Lucas, despite cramming about every cliche in existence in his films, managed to still make the setting believable because the backwards 1500s places and horse carriages were on different fucking planets than the knights in spaceships.

No wait hold on... he did this either because a. the shock for us/whatsherface is BIGGER when seeing spaceships coz SHE HAD NO IDEA or b. her sister PROTECTED HER so well she gave her a simple, quintessential way of life and none of that evil corrupting technology bullshit (someone said the capital may be more evil, so yeah).

But nah, medieval knights in spaceships is not his biggest problem. Being too idiotic to use it correctly and just shoving it there because aweeeeesoooooome is.

It worked for Starwars because they had lightsabers and their own lore and it was pretty well established that it was in an alternate futuristic universe.
This shit Johnny here is doing is what I can't fucking stand.
Up until this point we've had no indication that there is anything remotely futuristic, it's been fantasy bullshit sure, but to use your example, horse and buggy (even on starwars) on the same planet as a fucking space cruiser is bananas to me.

So basically, it's a clusterfuck. Like someone pointed out, if he had made a realistic setting like today's world where we do have the first world/third world countries, sure, but he just shoves everything in the same fucking country.

So two pages in a row end with Eyes Wide here wandering off to stare at something. I don't get it, did he misread his own script and draw the same scene twic-AHAHA... yeah like he has a script.

I guess the first panel on page 33 is supposed to be a pan out from last panel on page 32? But it doesn't read that way, it looks more like an establishing shot and the following panel makes it seem as if time has passed, and it's just confusing. It's like 32 was building up to something, nothing happened, and then they just repeated the same scene. Page 33 is completely pointless either way, it only exists so he can shove in as many cameos as possible.
