how to draw manga http://www.amazon.com/Drawing-Painting-Fantasy-Landscapes-Cityscapes/dp/0764132601 I have that book, awesome shit
How about this. Tell him to stop with the art and get a REAL major. IMO anyone who does art, is in art, art school, or doing an art, cinematography, or whatever school is a piece of shit idiot. Its basically saying "ok, I want to spend 120,000 to work at starbucks"
pixar's money comes from clever marketing to retarded children. The animation is secondary, if not tertiary. You will never work for pixar besides. Maybe you might as a coffee boy. No one will ever appreciate your art.
My teacher make like $1000 per painting and he is pretty popular, maybe he not rich but is better than working in a coffee shop. That is exactly what I want to paint, I will look for the book.
I'm with PerpA on this one, for once. Have fun pissing away your parents money at college now, because when all's said and done, the chances are that you'll all be working a third rate job, making a fourth rate income, and living a fifth rate life.
Oh lovely, a thousand dollars a painting. I wonder how many he sells in a year? He'd have to sell at least 30-40 t o make it a career, and god knows that's tough volume for an artist to move. Thats fucking chump change considering the effort one puts into them. And its not like he's exactly committing anything to posterity; I doubt we'll see any of his paintings in museums in a few centuries. Nor do I think the value of the paintings will appreciate. Honestly if that's the extent of what he can command, he's not popular. Khanzer, get a real job, you'll only get laughed at and scorned and kicked out when you can't pay the rent.
I have a friend JUST like that. I tell her this time and time again and about how stupid it is to go to art school: You are NOT going to move to japan to be a famous "mangaka". You are NOT good at drawing at all. I mean, she really believes she's going to be a famous manga artist. But now she's working at Cabella's. lol "until her career takes off"
It's just not realistic, like wanting to be an NFL player, or an actor, or a rock star. I wish those people would stop and think for a moment just how few people make it big doing shit like that.
Humanity pretty much requires illusion to keep going, most especially artists. All artists, good or bad are convinced of their own genius. The shitty ones see that they think the same as the good ones, so they figure HEY IM JUST AS GOOD AS THEY ARE. When really, no, they suck. Art is REALLY cheap right now. It used to be people had wealthy patrons that commissioned work, but now all I gotta do is toss 10 bucks at some asshole to get sum art, either that or copy-paste off of google images. Honestly, the only money in art is in marketing, and that requires selling out everything you believe in, which I'm in favor of. Don't believe you'll get a job in film or anything, your likelihood of making it in that field is roughly the same as winning the lotto, so don't think of it as anything you acheive, but rather something you luck into. As for moving to japan... yeah, no, no one white is going to make it as a manga artist in japan. Someone just needs to tell ALL artists their work sucks, repeatedly, on a daily basis, so they don't get delusions to the contrary.
you said pesos so I'm assuming he lives in mexico, or some other godforsaken country that uses pesos. They're all shitholes, and its the same race that inhabits all the countries in south and central america.
Let's see... something positive... errrr... ummmm... She... Almost has an anatomically correct character? Granted with this day and age anorexic characters are the normal...
