Japan surrendered because it was being drained in China/Indochina where it had millions of soldiers (where it had around eight times the amount of soldiers garrisoned in the Pacific) and because it got its ass kicked by the USSR in Manchuria/Korea/Mongolia where they lost over a million soldiers in less than a month.
