I hate Humon's art (and her quite a bit herself) because it's fucking ridiculous: she "cutesyfies" Rape, pedophiles, stereotypes, etc. Her art is sketchy, unfinished crap that ALWAYS needs author comments to explain them, I.E her pieces can never speak for themselves.
Oh, did I mention she sexualizes everything? I mean, EVERYTHING? Mythology, history, culture, races, etc.
She "researches" on all of these subjects for about 15 minutes at most and struts around like she's been an expert on them for 40 years, because she's Danish.

Nah, sounds about right. I'll just add that I hate it when a popular "artist" acts like an ass towards their fans, because where the hell would they be without them? And sitting there going "lol fuck no I won't give people credit for the ideas I take from them haha, suckers" is something you just ... don't do.

Also - that comment by ... pelted-crimson-fire shows they didn't actually look at this thread. We give quite a lot of reasons to hate on her art instead of just whining about how much it disturbs us. They, on the other hand, criticise this this thread just because they are a fan of humon and don't want people criticising her. That's why they blatantly disregard every single point we make. Nothing more. It's pathetic, this hypocrisy.

There is so much bullshit in this. Belly dancing is basically only popular because it was romanticised in Europe since the 18th century. It's not that old and not exactly an "old traditional" thing, more like a tourist attraction and wannabe historical thing.

First of all: No it isn't. Just because there are tons of scantily clad girls dancing in music videos doesn't mean dancing is a girl thing. Watch shows like "So you think you can dance" instead of music video channels. Also, no humon, you just enjoy men dancing because your stupid, racist, sexist little brain tells you "dancing is for girls and thus dancing feminises men and that's hawt tehihi". Oh, don't get me wrong, I agree with all of your points completely on this, especially the "don't listen to them" shushing, which seems to be a very common way people deal with not wanting to hear what is wrong with them or their art. I wouldn't be able to stay interested in ED long if it was nothing more than slight variations of "hurr this sucks what a faggot"; these discussions are precisely what I like about it.

What I meant was: I think people are kidding themselves if they come here expecting us to give criticism in nothing but suck up comments. So many times when artists are called out on stuff they start screaming about not being given respect and that if anything was wrong, it should have been brought up in "a nice, constructive way" and it's a really ridiculous notion to expect that everyone should treat you like a king. (It's a bullshit move anyway since most of the time they only listen to the good stuff that they expect to hear, Humon included.) Not everyone is going to bother with niceties and I don't think enough tarts on dA realize this.

how insightful sailormoongirl20. it's called an undertone, my boyfriend has a strong yellow (there's almost no red that shows on him, especially next to me, i'm really 'red') undertone himself. however, defending humon when the only character with said undertone is asian shows humon DOES NOT fucking know that other humans have a yellow undertone other than the occasional asian. the OCCASIONAL asian. shit, even good animuuuuguuu artists use yellowish tones as their base. what DOESN'T blast them tho, is the fact that they layer so much more goddamn colours on top that the yellow base is barely noticeable, and looks like a light skintone. [keep in mind tho, my bf is half native american, i'm not sure what his next most-dominant background is, but i think it's scottish or someshit]

It's not just the yellow skin - that in itself is cringeworthy enough, but also the combination of slit eyes, traditional clothes and yellow skin goes very quickly.

Also, she drew this on a computer, so she would have seen the colour was way in the yellow-ish spectrum. That's why I say it's bullshit. But of course she can't admit that she was being racist again.
