Anytime Ron Paul's name comes up on the internet outside of his supporter's radar, the comments are spiked. Republicans mock his isolationism and hands-off approach to social issues. Democrats take swings at his economic ideology and his racist past. Seems like the only place this guy can catch a break is within the confines of his own forums, where the userbase is entirely comprised of conspiracy theorists and human spam.

I find that most the bias against him is ignorant. Here are my answers to the shit most commonly flung his way.

Ron Paul's economic policy involves ending welfare and medicaid, which will throw the country asunder.

Paul says that the very last thing the government should cut is support for the needy. The only welfare agency Paul would axe is Housing and Urban Development. From my own personal experience living smack in the middle of one of the largest urban epicenters in America, I can attest that HUD is a corrupt organization which allows their gang-affiliated agents to commit legal government-sanctioned burglary against innocent poor families. HUD needs to be put down.

Other agencies Paul wants to cut are the Department of Energy, Department of Commerce, Department of Education, and the Department of the Interior. None of those have shit fuck to do with food stamps or medicaid.

TL;DR: Haters pigeonhole Paul with the most sinister of libertarian views.

Ron Paul writes racist newsletters and wants to end Affirmative Action.

The racism in question were a few lines that appeared in a spin-off newsletter written and managed by someone else while Paul was busy being a doctor. The few lines that were considered racist are less than a fraction of a percent of his entire catalog, which spans a few thousand pages long. In over a thousand hours of video footage of Ron Paul delivering speeches, nothing he has ever said could possibly be interpreted as racist.

Other, more informed voters, have qualms with his stance against Affirmative Action. This is the law that makes it so BLACK ONLY toilets don't exist. These qualms are unfounded as Paul does not wish to end the concept of affirmative action, but instead take it off the federal books and make it a state issue. In 2012, I have serious doubts any state would take up the offer of bringing back institutionalized racism.

    TL;DR: Real niggas support Paul.

Since EDF leans to the left, I'm not going to bother addressing the right-wing resentment of his foreign policy and his who-fucking-cares stance on all social issues. I'm sure most of you are in agreement with him on those. What I will say though, is that he garners just as much hate from neocon and evangelical republicans as he does from liberal democrats.

So there you have it. If you disagree I think you are a fucking moron.

Withdrawal. This would require both senate and congress approval, thus is irrelevant.

Ron Paul attempted this in 2005 with H.R.1146, however just like all his other trollbills, it was crushed on the floor.

Okay, these questions are going to get more and more complex. What is his views on Free Trade and State Capitalism?

Complex ist gut. Two part question.

Free trade: No sanctions on other nations or otherwise impede on who we do business with. This means Cuban cigars and Taedonggangon on tap. Also no business mandates, instead opting for lawsuits and criminal charges.

State Capitalism: Funneling money to business creates artificial financial bubbles and throws market prices into disarray. Ron Paul does not support government intervention in economy.

State Capitalism (in its different forms) seems to be working wonders for China, Qatar, and Brazil. With Brazil the start-up of government companies then eventual privatization has led to incredible success. Brazil's Vale Mining company was privatized in 1997, now it is the second largest mining company in the world. Would Ron Paul support a Brazilian approach to State Capitalism?

And with China, their State Capitalist hold on Rare Earth Metals has literally the rest of the world's balls in a vice grip. 95% of all rare earth metals in 2009 came from China. Rare Earth Metals are necessary in things ranging from iPods to Jet Engines. The Chinese were able to monopolize these metals because in the 80s they decided that it would be good down the road to monopolize this resource. Given that it will be some time until the rest of the world catches up with this, would Ron Paul consider some sort of government intervention into the economy? Also lets say Ron Paul sees something down the road which is the next REM, would he have the State invest in it so his country might benefit down the road from it?

Ron Paul does not support market intervention, even if we were to spot the next big thing. He believes this should be handled by entrepreneurs. Having the government fuel money into growth is something that can be done with far less prerequisites by an investment firm.

In my opinion, a certain degree of state capitalism is necessary to remain competitive in the international market these days. However, remaining competitive is not always necessary. By utilizing the services of nations who chose to dominate an industry through brute force, we get amazing deals. Point in case, Foxconn. The money we save by not being competitive is spent elsewhere and expands other markets.

The only downside is that eventually you have Beijing controlling 97% of the rare metals industry and pulling slick shit like withholding exports to create an artificial price increase. Since nobody can afford to take a slice of that market and offer competitive prices, we are stuck with it. State capitalism is better if you like the idea of royally fucking over your customers.

Just noticed I completely ignored the Brazil model. I'm not too failure with it, however considering the gross inefficiency of government programs and the staggering 90% failure rate of start-up businesses, I do not see how their model can be financially sustainable in America.

don't hate on Paul guys, he's fo'twenty friendly. Seriously though, he seems to me to at least be the lesser of several evils when it comes to the Republican candidates, and Obama is way too "socialist" for my taste, if you catch my drift. Also, this thread caught my attention because there's a guy from high school I used to know named Paul who coincidentally was universally hated by fucking everybody, so I was like lol no way, same Paul?

Ron Paul is the only eligible candidate for the GOP.

Bear in mind, of course, that this is the GOP we're talking about here...

I liked him a lot before I saw him on television, on paper he's great. Pro-science conservative with a strong diplomatic background. Put him behind a camera however and you realize he's the kind of guy you just want to punch in the face. Born into riches, obnoxiously slow speech, it's as if he's addressing the nation as a group of retards. Being a dominating public figure is an important part of being president and has served Obama tremendously well.

If the bush administration has taught me anything it's that limited government in business is one way ticket into fucking its self over. Less we remember that old fuck who left the office with one of biggest financial disasters of our time and unknown to public placed the fate of our entire federal financial head at the hands of Goldman Sucks

So in the end. I hope to god these fucks lose the presidency and a demon from the depths of hell rises up and tears their skin to shreds.

What happened was the businesses fucked themselves over and should have simply went bankrupt and had all their assets liquidated. Instead, they lobbied politicians to pay their trillion dollar debt and stay in business. They also instilled fear in the public through mass media. Everyone was so worried about the "economic collapse" that they failed to realize that about a hundred different companies would immediately spring up to replace Sachs and Mae.

Sorry I don't really know a lot about this, but what the fuck is up with fucking jews Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and Goldman Sachs? From what I know, they're supposed to be the cause of the financial meltdown, yet almost every inside trader in the Congress is linked to them, Republicans and Democrats alike, so how exactly are these kikes still alive?

Capitalism follows money, so it was inevitable that banks would eventually get their hands on the federal reserve. In a nutshell, these companies threw out enough high-risk loans to sink their multi-billion dollar enterprises. Once they started losing money, they collectively decided to press the breaks on all lending. This would have repercussions for people looking to buy homes, or businesses which operate within debt and rely on loans to stay in business.

So instead of biting the bullet and facing reality, government decided it would be better to keep them lending money, thus injected 700 billion dollars into the industry in the form of a low interest loan. This makes it so banks can continue dishing out high risk loans and gives people the false impression that everything is okay.

Sachs, Mae, and Mac are not the only culprits. Other companies involved in this shakedown are General Motors, AIG Insurance, and the collective voice of about 15,000 banks all screaming in unison. These companies operate on flawed business models. Eventually the loan money will dry up and we will have gone full circle. We will then need to revisit the bailouts and either loan more money, or pull the plug and let these cancerous businesses operate without a bottomless-pit lender.

In my opinion, the board members of these companies should be arrested and charged with theft for paying out dividends on profits that don't exist. They should also be sued by the Attorney General and barred from conducting business in the financial sector, forever. This would undoubtedly cause all kinds of economic confusion and chaos, but in the long run it creates a strong foundation for our own economy to rest on after the phoenix rises from the ashes.
