Well he felt special because gaming news websites posted his drawing, some of them pretty much jumped to the gun without realizing it. But none of them reportedly have any response from Nintendo. Shovel edit: I just thought about it.... is Diaz in a state of denial at the moment? He seems to be recollecting his temporary internet fames by tweeting about them. Just to deny his tardiness. You know what? Lets enjoy Battlepug for a while! And... oh look! The webcomic have Eisner and Harvey Awards stamps on the front page. No need to tweeet again and again when you got them right? After all what proof do you need when you got listed as award winner out there!
Only Nintendo Fanboys and retards thought the lead wasn't Link/male lead in that teaser. Eiji Aonuma must have facepalmed so hard from the fact that so many interpreted his statement as "It's definitely not Link" and then took the "female lead/Link" as absolute.
Remember that 12 hours when we thought the sun was gone and the Moon would be in the sky forever? Good times.
No, Diaz, I don't remember that Possibly because I don't waste my life suckling at the teat of 24/7 games and comic journalism looking for things to twist out of proportion and then cry about like a petulant child instead of actually doing the things people pay me money for
People got legitimately angry about that? Don't get me wrong, Link has been looking more and more Bishounen lately so it doesn't surprise me that a Link without his iconic green garb and a ponytail got people speculating. Even better was that Auonoma trolled by saying " I never said that was Link".. but like...what? People got upset when it wasn't so? I mean really now?
It's more the fact people thought "Not Link? MUST BE A GENDER CHANGE OMG A FEMALE EEEEEEEEEE I LOVE NINTENDO FEMINISTS FOR LIFE"
Where is my eye suppose to go in the 3rd row?? I mean seriously- this guy can't do paneling, what's up with Kumiko's hair?
That's supposed to be his waifu protagonist there, right? He's not even trying to hide that she's his fetish dumping ground. I see like three or four different kink things going on there. And I'm loving that dialogue, did he take that from his teenage brother's Facebook?
Yay, plot convenience! He tries to squish as many panels to reduce effort, it becomes so disjointed. What's with the brown-haired guy breaking through the panels? Nothing else does it. It's just distracting. Dresden must have forgotten to wipe off all the jizz as he jacks off to his Mary Sue so often.
Oh look, deus ex machina. Oh look, the villain who everyone saw at first glance is revealed. Nothing exciting happens. Also, I've noticed that Kimiko's hair inexplicably changes from black to brown during the course of Dark Science, and the events of Hob just happen to give her heterochromia. And the reason everybody pays so much attention to her is solely because of her father. Golly, she really is a paper doll.
I've tried multiple times to give his comic a read just so I can be up-to-date on this nonsense, but goddamn there's just nothing to grab at you and hold your attention, and the blocks of text are so deterring. Can someone give me a summary so I can participate in this thread with my shitty opinions?
Considering how much his comics update he has to fit in all those panels. After all, this is 6 months worth of content in one page. His fans ain't gonna see the next update until Halloween of 2015.
I may actually try to read this comic, maybe starting at a later chapter though, cause fuck I hate these panels.
Welp, guess I can just go with my suspicions as far as this is concerned. He's pulling that meandering novice bullshit where he only started with a rough idea of misadventures, but now he wants to tell a serious story. It's only downhill from here because without any real limits the character was always doomed to be a Sue. There'll be things from other media and plots ripped into this because shit looked cool(the Sue's hair color changing reminds me of Slayers). And with how old he is and that attitude, it's doubtful if he could ever recover from such levels of faggotry. I can see the future of plotlines being tied together in overly complicated ways, forgotten canon, all culminating in a clusterfuck that will be forgotten about soon enough anyway since it never had a proper identity in the first place. I know this because it reminds me of the first complete comic I ever drew, back in my days of extreme weeb in middle school.
her hair changes? from dark to white? like tokyo esp you mean? hahahaha okay, dude. this girl is a mishmash of so many anime cliches it hurts. please, please tell me she can, like, walk through walls or something too. please. and those thick eyebrows (thicker than the guys') and short hair makes me think she's a guy with tits. oops. so much for ~*~feminism~*~
You're in luck, there are only three chapters and two storylines. Actually, there are only 60 comics to read. I'll try. Time to reread OH GOD MY EYES Kimiko is a SCIENCE! girl who likes to SCIENCE! all the SCIENCE! time, and she is just a SCIENCE! character, don't you agree? She also likes boys because she's a girl, buuuuut SHE IS SOCIALLY AWKWARD! BECAUSE SCIENCE! Time travellers come and Kimiko meets a robot. Turns out the robot did time travel bullshit. Time travellers are from a hypothetical future where a technological singularity occurred, and they want to destroy the robot to avert the crisis that happened to their time because of it. Kimiko refuses because SCIENCE! and TRANSHUMANISM! Fight. Robot gets destroyed and time travellers leave. Kimiko whines that her friends don't like her wanting to destroy the human race in the name of progress. Mini-Hob comes. Time travellers suddenly turn into villains as they come back to destroy mankind's machinery. Story then attempts to justify Kimiko's attitude. Mechs blow shit up and Kimiko is killed. Some backstory on how her dad is too busy doing SCIENCE! to help her grow up with her mom while doing SCIENCE! Then, for no explicable reason, Kimiko becomes "Mother." Or at least ROBOSCIENCE GOD. And she saves the world or creates an alternate one or scifi bullshit. Oh yeah, she kills her dad or at least uses thermite against him or something. TL;DR Hob is is a boring plot muddied by pretentious technobabble. We are treated to a bunch of bad and actually-not-bad one-shot comics before Dark Science starts. They seem to disregard the actual story THANK GOD save for one or two which focus on that dumb symbol. Either that or Diaz forgot she had heterochromia. Then guest comics by more talented people who actually seem to make Kimiko likeable. Dark Science. Yeah. Kimiko goes to city her father made to meet up with her friend's sister or something (Nephilopolis, which I missed on two readthroughs because I didn't care). EVERYBODY TALKS ABOUT HER BECAUSE OF HER DAD YAY FEMALE RELEVANCE. Loses bag and cult gets it. SCIENCE AS CHARACTERIZATION also kimiko has daddy issues. Ludicrous science. Cult appearance. Sister sends Kimiko to archaeologist because plot. More cult acting like stereotypical villains, also they control city's workings or summat and take after her father. Kimiko goes after a writer, bumps into her brother. Meets writer, somehow gets along splendidly with her. Aforementioned brother crashes the party. Cut to now. TL;DR It's Michael Bay-tier entertainment with science. I think this comic could be good if Aaron Diaz wasn't writing it. The main problem with Dresden Codak is that 1) it's a gilded piece of stale bread and 2) its creator is a douche. If it was only one-shots I could tolerate it.
Ask and ye shall receive. Have some sample pages from the five notebooks this shit took up(veyr originul story u guis donut steall), a comic which I sometimes like to reread to make my eyes bleed. The future of Dresden Codak(in a sense). First pages of the first comic. Didn't have much of a concept for an over-arcing plot at the time. Yes those are the lyrics to Lady Gaga's Just Dance. Part of a very long coma-arc. dat bike tho. I felt this most accurately encapsulated the overall comic. Yes I did insert my literal Sue-self into the comic to advance the plot. Right before the final climatic showdown. At this point Mary-Sue's merged with her two other selves and her fairy mentor to become the Goddess of Life to defeat her mother the Goddess of Death. At least I'm not THIS much of a faggot anymore. ...right?
I am tempted to Codakify that comic in Diaz's exact style, and see if people will pay me money for it.
