Where I live, you can get anything that is fit for 'human consumption'. Things like beer and dog food is on the no list, but anything else: candy, soda, ice cream and top cut steaks...a-ok. And trust me, I've been yelled at by angry customers because the morons were mad because dog and cat food wasn't covered. Some energy drinks are covered as well, but only if they say 'nutritional facts' on the back. If they say 'supplemental facts' then nope.

I've been told by my coworker is usually: if it's you and your spouse you would get about $150, (If you're single, good luck even getting qualified.) and for every kid you have: $200 per kid. She would know because she has food stamps, and it's the only way she can live so it doesn't bug me. Her babysitter fees are about as much as her rent, so there's no way she could do it without help. The highest amount I've ever seen on a foodstamps card (not including the cash side) was almost $2,300 but that was a family of twelve and they used every single penny of it while only buying the cheapest of the cheap.

The one that will forever piss me off was a woman that had $1800 on her card; she was buying lobster and top cut steaks and all sort of good things. I was teasing her saying that she must have a lot of kids; she smiled at me and said 'oh, it's just me and my husband and our 1 year old.' I asked her why was she getting so much then, she said she had worked in the foodstamps office and 'knew what to write on the form'. It still pisses me off.


I see, I thought you were talking about government shit, not church and charity programs. I support those programs, because families and others donate their time and energy to help out those who need it. Whenever I can, I help out in those as well.

There are people who "abuse" the system...but you need to put things into perspective. Our government basically spends more money on a SINGLE weekend NATO summit than it spends for the WHOLE YEAR on social services.

Essentially, you're whining about people who have next to nothing who are "abusing" a system of trickling rain drops when right behind them is a FUCKING OCEAN of blatant, openly exposed, mass level BILLIONAIRE abuse.

Also, despite the going delusion and what mass media would like you believe, you really can't "abuse" the food card program. If you lie...they're going to find out...and then you're going to get yourself fucked from the program for the rest of your life.

The notion of having a bunch of kids to get a bunch of "free stuff" is also inherently backwards. That "mentality" if you will ~rarely~ works out well and in many cases results in the kids being taken away...especially in states where they basically make money via taking away people's children (similar to our "prisons for profit").

Got that whole NIMBY attitude, eh? You really ought to broaden your horizons a little. Understanding how others do things is a great way to start bringing out positive change to your own circumstances. As well as learning from their mistakes.

For example in places like Florida where they got the "bright idea" to start testing welfare recipients for drugs. Turns out, stereotypes are all just in people's heads, less than 1% of those tested were actually on drugs, which by cutting them off resulted in a savings of roughly $25,000 annually (although it never actually shown that they were even spending any welfare money ~on~ drugs).

...uh...~unfortunately~ the COST to do the drug tests in the first place wound up costing tax payers unfathomably spiraling MILLIONS of dollars...which is money that ~could~ have been spent actually helping children...instead of just pissing it all away on blatant stereotypical hate nonsense.
