I suppose it depends largely on your priorities in life. Things like "fame" and "money" have never honestly been very important to me...at all. I prefer the...simpler things in life. Like watching raindrops on a window... glow sticks... popping bubble wrap... jumping in large piles of leaves... the smell of freshly mowed grass...

Stuff like that is of *MUCH* greater value to me than money. Money is, at best, simply a convenient tool. It can be BORING too, as it generally solves problems too easily, takes a lot of the potential strategy and planning out of life. *shrugs*

Would you prefer commas instead? You really should try and think outside the APA/MLA litter box every now and again. I'm just sayin.

@Onideus , how would you survive prison without money? I could *TOTALLY* see you being someone's bitch.

Considering the crimes you've committed, this could be soon.

You can also get food ~without~ money. Most people are pretty clueless as just how much "free stuff" is available here in the land 'o plenty. Government food cards are at the top 'o the list. Our normally stingy, money grubbing, Jew run government isn't exactly known for its ~sharing~ so it's pretty fuckin retarded *NOT* to try and apply.

Even if you're working a regular job with regular hours you still potentially qualify. Granted you might only get like $5 a month, but it ACCUMULATES, so in 10 months...hey, that's fifty freakin bucks worth 'o free groceries!

There's also any number of "food giveaways" depending on your city/state. Here in Walla Walla there are three major ones with various other annual ones. The ones Wal-Mart sponsors are always real awesome, cause they don't usually have any restrictions on income at all and there's no signup or qualifying or anything...plus they always give you tons and tons 'o stuffs.

The "Government Commodities" ones are also really awesome. Especially those gigantor blocks 'o cheese they give ya, those are really great for makin grilled cheese sammiches with tomato soup.

Free cell phones, prescription coupons (and $4 prescriptions), utility bill discounts, etc, etc, etc...there's really no such thing as "poor" in this country provided you're fairly intelligent and put in a slight degree of effort/bother.

The less you have, the more you can potentially get.

Mmmm, there's LOTS of other ways to get easy money and gift cards and such too. For example at most major colleges, corporations and the like they've always got a variety of different "studies" and "test groups" that they're doing that you can sign up for. Like I just did one a few weeks back at Whitman college that only took about two hours and I got $5 in cash and a $25 Safeway gift card. It was pretty fun too, cause it was a psychology based study. The corporate ones are also usually fun cause you get try new stuffs and see stuff that's still in development.

If you're good at writing, like I am, and if you have a fairly wide social reach you can likewise use that to your advantage. For example a couple years back I wrote a two paragraph e-mail to Carl's Junior, complimenting them on their food...they sent me a $25 gift card in return. And See's candy last year sent me a $50 gift card just for promoting and pushing their products in my public "Christmas Gift Ideas" album on FaceBook.

You do have to be a ~lil~ careful, cause like online you're suppose to make sure you "disclose" if you get freebies and such from anyone, otherwise the FCC can potentially nail you. Mostly cause a lot of corporations have begun effectively using/abusing bloggers and such to push and promote their products. It's uber cheap advertising for them, cause they only have to give some freebies to the blogger or whatever, but then it creates the potential for personal bias and unethical business practices...basically pushing a product not because it's actually good, but just because you're getting something out of it.

Anyway, like I said...money is largely overrated. You can get all SORTS of stuff without any money at all...provided you put a little bit of thought/research/effort into it.

I wouldn't call that being white trash. Have you tried grocery shopping at a chain food store in the states recently? A fucking loaf of bread costs anywhere from $3 to $5. I've seen a medium sized bottle of Tide laundry detergent on sale for $12. The average person pays approximately $70 a month for a cellphone. Shit is expensive these days, while at the same time there are organizations out there whose sole purpose of existence is just giving this stuff away.

If I were so inclined, I could get all my food for free. There are numerous food pantries in my neighborhood, open one day a week, that give out everything from fresh meats to canned food. Everyone who signs their name walks out with about $50 worth of free groceries. I could do this three times per week. I don't do it because I'm lazy, but if I were I'd save approximately $400 a month, which is about half my rent.

If you're rolling in dough then taking advantage of these things is pretty selfish. However, for the rest of us who make less than 40k per year, it takes a lot of weight off our shoulders. I don't see why someone would pay close to $100 per month for a smartphone when you can just get a regular ass cellphone with a few hundred minutes on it for free.

I understand what you're saying uberfukken, but I see that sort of thing for people who really need it. Who would actually STARVE without it. I was raised with the mentality of 'if you can work, you work' and 'only take handouts if you absolutely need it.'

I've worked as a cashier in grocery stores, and I guess I've become bitter when it comes to food stamps. I've seen families that make 120K + a year; have boats and ATV's and other 'toys' that I only dream about and get over $1200 a month in food stamps, only because they have 6 kids and they get absolute junk with it. (The one that made me pissed off was the family that would spend $400 on CANDY, every single time; that only had two kids.) They should really put limits on what you can get with it, like take off soda and candy...you don't need those to live.

It's a pet peeve of mine, I admit it.

I do agree with you on the cellphones. Why spend so much money on something like that if you only use it to talk to people.

I don't know anyone who gets $1200 a month in food stamps. To pull that off you need to have like a minimum wage income and 8 kids.

There are some people who cheat the system, and you also the people who work under-the-table so there's no way to verify their finances. However, the point I was making is in regards to charity and church ran food pantries, not government assistance. These places always have a surplus and if they don't clear their shelves, it goes in the garbage.
