Forum was constantly down since April. Manley is just fucking with the servers a lot to bloat the website. I wouldn't surprised that he also managed to kill the current community with his bullshit. There was also some serious drama about the TAD school scam in CA.org from what I've seen (don't remember much the details though)
Yeah there was a lot of fuckery going on, the TAD thing being the last drop. Basically they listed the best CA.org artists as teachers, then most of those teachers resigned (or were never meant to teach, I don't remember), but Manley hid the fact for months so more people would sign up. I don't understand that man at all, he had created something amazing and then destroyed it for no reason. A few months ago it came out he hadn't been paying artists that had their instructional DVDs up on Massive Black website. Mess. @likeicare Probably CGHub. imo the art community sucks at the moment. Maybe the Crimson Daggers forum for improvement, but it's just more of the same shitty CA sketchbook attitude. If you want to put up with it then it's the best option. Behance if you meant professional portfolio.
anipan caters to anime artists, and has significantly less porn than da. small community too. there are no journals to stir drama and shit, so if that's her thing, put her there. sheezyart has more beginners, but it's down right now. also a small community, so if your sister likes stirring drama keep her away from it.
I've been hearing about it's eventual demise for a while now. However that rating system is ripe for trolling. It will be so easy to give any oversensitive drama queen a 1 out of 5 and watch as he/she bitches and cries about nobody appreciating their art. On that note, I like the forum style of CA.org The only thing that bothered me was the lack of an art upload system.
